After learning about reproductive justice in an anti-racism workshop, Mike volunteered for Midwest Access Coalition to help them in their work supporting people traveling to access abortion and to learn whether pilots in small aircraft could also help those people travel. After taking a couple of MAC folks for a flight, they told him that the potential to make a difference for people was huge. From that encouragement, Elevated Access was born. Elevated Access enables individuals to access essential healthcare through private and commercial aviation. Our network of volunteer pilots are matched with and provide transportation for passengers and resources to aid people in need of reproductive or gender-affirming care. We do this through careful coordination with organizational partners and logistical coordinators. We serve to ease the burden where governmental and/or healthcare systems have failed in the United States by providing fast, free, and compassionate transportation for those suffering roadblocks to their bodily autonomy.
